THE BRAZEN SERPENT AND THE CROSS (DAY 148 OF 365)

THE BRAZEN SERPENT AND THE CROSS
(Nuggets from John 3:14)

God instructed Moses in Numbers 21:5-9 to make a fiery serpent and set it upon a pole, but what is the significance of the serpent?
The serpent is the same old Lucifer who tricked Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

The BRAZEN SERPENT in our context represents SIN and SATAN, which was the primary reason for the CROSS, and the pole was a type of the CROSS. God was trying to show Moses what would happen to mankind centuries ahead, how that Jesus Christ His only begotten son would come into this world to undo what the serpent had done to humanity.

As God instructed Moses to make the serpent with brass and set it upon a pole, any of the Israelites (who were bitten by the fiery serpents that God sent to bite them) who looks at it would live, same way God sent His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.

The serpent was not an allegory or a type of Christ, but the message here is that God used the symbol of the serpent in the wilderness to make an open show of satan and the sun he introduced, and that whatever he represents will be undone by Jesus Christ the only begotten son by His death on the cross of Calvary.

It was the lifting up of the son of man on the cross that could defeat satan and sin once and for all, and this is the victory we now enjoy in Christ.

Any tool, animate or inanimate can be an instrument in the hands of God, and He equally uses any mechanism to achieve His purpose.

When satan deceived Adam and Eve in the garden, he thought he had won forever, but little did he know that God who knows the end from the beginning had a PERFECT PLAN FOR THE REDEMPTION OF MANKIND.

BEHOLD JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS OF CALVARY; LOOK TO HIM NOW AND LIVE.
