ROMANS 6:4
In today's HOLINESS CHALLENGE, I challenge you to IDENTIFY WITH THE DEATH AND BURIAL OF CHRIST, TO HAVE ALL YOUR SINS BURIED WITH HIM, AND YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BENEFIT FROM HIS RESURRECTION AND THE DIVIDENDS THEREOF.
If you truly want to IDENTIFY WITH CHRIST, it has to be ALL-ROUND.
Identify with His sufferings, His crucifixion, death and burial.
Each of these phases has a significance in your journey with Christ.
As He SUFFERED for your sake, you must be ready to suffer for the sake of this CHRISTIAN FAITH.
As He was CRUCIFIED, you must be crucified with Him, having your sins and old self nailed to the cross.
As He DIED on the cross for you, you ought to DIE to the FLESH and become numb and irresponsive to every FLESHY DESIRE, just as a dead person does not respond to STIMULUS; nothing should move you again because your flesh no longer lives.
As He was BURIED, we are also BURIED with Him by BAPTISM.
We are baptized into Christ in this case, not into water. You have been submerged and immersed into Christ.
It is only when you have been immersed and baptized into Christ that God will see that you have truly died with Christ, and that is when Jesus will now become your substitute, so God no longer sees the sins you committed because Christ now stands in for you.
He became sin for you and I, making you the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in CHRIST - WHAT A PRIVILEGE!!
Jesus did not just suffer, get crucified, die and get buried.
The icing on the cake was His RESURRECTION, which sealed your FREEDOM and REDEMPTION.
If you go through the suffering stages up until His death, you will also enjoy the benefits of His Resurrection, which now gives you NEWNESS OF LIFE.
What have you suffered for the sake of Christ so far? Assess yourself and know where you stand.
AFTER THE CROSS COMES THE CROWN; AFTER THE TRAUMA, COMES THE TRIUMPH; AFTER THE GRIEF COMES THE GLORY.
