(Nuggets from 1st Corinthians 8:3)
1 Corinthians 8:3 AMPC
"But if one loves God truly [with affectionate reverence, prompt obedience, and grateful recognition of His blessing], he is known by God [recognized as worthy of His intimacy and love, and he is owned by Him]."
If you are truly attached to God; if you seek to serve God truly, and everything about your life will be channeled to promoting God's glory.
There is no TRUE and REAL LOVE that is not connected with OBEDIENCE to God and LOVE for one another. Love for God is what will prompt you to love your brethren, and lead you to promote their happiness.
It is not enough to PROFESS that YOU LOVE GOD , your ACTIONS will prove it.
IF ANY MAN/WOMAN LOVES GOD, the same is KNOWN BY HIM.
This implies that God only IDENTIFIES with those who LOVE HIM; but God looks beyond the 'LOVE' you profess. He dissects it to see the intrinsic properties therein.
God expects to see the following:
- AFFECTIONATE REVERENCE (not eye service or pretentious practice of religion)
- PROMPT OBEDIENCE (doing God's will without being coerced)
- LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER (coming to the aid of the needy like the GOOD SAMARITAN).
Only those who DARE TO FULFILL THESE CONDITIONS ABOVE are KNOWN BY GOD. God will readily identify with you and all that pertains to you.
Little wonder, Apostle Paul admonished young Timothy:
"Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
2 Timothy 2:19.
God knows those who are truly His own. They have His SEAL OF OWNERSHIP and they do not indulge in sin.
IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO PROFESS THAT YOU KNOW GOD; IT IS MORE BLESSED AND PROFITABLE TO BE KNOWN BY GOD.
This is HOLINESS CHALLENGE.
