CLEANSING POWER OF THE WORD
(Nuggets from John 15:3)
John 17:17 emphasizes progressive SANCTIFICATION through God's truth which sets a believer apart. Jesus prayed for the sanctification of His disciples, that God should separate them from the world by His truth.
At the point of CONVERSION, a believer received an IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS because the blood of Jesus has washed you clean and the righteousness you now have is the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS.
This status of RIGHTEOUSNESS can be lost if not safeguarded, hence the need for a second touch - SANCTIFICATION.
SANCTIFICATION IS A PROGRESSIVE PROCESS through which a believer patterns his/her life to be conformed to the image of Christ. The end result is BECOMING LIKE JESUS CHRIST.
SANCTIFICATION entails putting off old habits, properties of satan, works of the flesh, and every vice that characterizes a carnal person, and putting on the Christ-like qualities and virtues encapsulated in the fruit of the Spirit.
SANCTIFICATION continues till the point of death or rapture, when your RIGHTEOUSNESS and HOLINESS becomes perfected.
Continuous cleansing and purification in this life can only be made possible through the CLEANSING BY THE WORD OF GOD.
True daily sanctification in this life comes through the ministry of the Word of God. Jesus told His disciples, “Now are you clean through the word which I have spoken unto you” In John 15:3.
As you navigate through the hurdles of this life, you need the COMPASS of God's word, not just for DIRECTION, but for SANCTIFICATION, to keep you CLEAN, PURE and SPOTLESS before God, qualified and fit to meet Him at the end.
This is HOLINESS CHALLENGE
