REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL (DAY 105 OF 365)

REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL
(Nuggets from Mark 1:15)

To understand today's scripture better, let's have the Amplified version rendering:

Mark 1:15 AMPC
"And saying, The [appointed period of] time is fulfilled (completed), and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent (have a change of mind which issues in regret for past sins and in change of conduct for the better) and believe (trust in, rely on, and adhere to) the good news (the Gospel)."

The time appointed for the church age to wind up, and the Kingdom of God is at hand. Jesus Christ the Bridegroom is about to come for His church, the Bride, and there is need for everyone who is part of this universal body of Christ to prepare.

The first step is to ACKNOWLEDGE one's sins, REPENT, and then BELIEVE the Gospel message.

According to Strong’s Concordance, the Greek word for “REPENT” is, ‘Metanoeō’ which means, “To change one's mind for better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one's past sins.”

Repentance is a choice to turn away from sin, allowing God to wash your heart from the stains of the past and giving him the chance to transform you completely.

When you surrender to Christ, the old man dies and the new man comes alive. When you accept Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Savior, He gives you the power to tread over the stronghold of sin. When you are in Christ, it is your CHOICE to either SERVE SIN or to SURRENDER TO CHRIST.

When you are in Christ, God expects that you should decide to no longer cling to the sins, entanglements, and addictions of the past. When you repent and turn to God, He gives you the power, strength, and fortitude to overcome sin in every area of your life. When you are in Christ, He blots out your sins completely and He remembers them no more.

When you surrender your ways to Christ, it comes with self-denial because you no longer own yourself, your desires and passions now become subject to the will of God, and this is the essence of TRUE REPENTANCE.

The reason many Christians who claim they REPENTED end up falling back into sin is because they never surrendered fully in the first place; that was a partial repentance and it can never be counted as REPENTANCE.

The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Good News. Jesus literally took all of the things that you have ever thought, did, or wanted to do wrong upon His shoulders and rid you of the penalty of those wrongs. This is GOOD NEWS! The motivation He had for doing this was pure love for you? Not only has He done this for you, but for everyone on earth - past, present and future - who would believe in Him and what He has done.

This unimaginably great free gift ends with an eternal life in Heaven where Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour has gone to prepare a place for all those who take advantage of His sacrifice.

All Jesus asks of you is to believe in Him and what He has accomplished on our behalf, and you will get to spend the rest of your life in pursuit of His goodness, and then eternity in His presence.
