(Nuggets from Hebrews 11:16)
When you choose to fill your life with the things of this world, you crowd out anything that has ETERNAL CONSEQUENCE, making you lose sight of Heaven, and forget the reason you signed up to follow Jesus in the first place.
This is the reason our Lord Jesus said in Matthew 6:24,
"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
As disciples of Jesus, we must learn to lead different lives and beg to differ. Seeing that we live in a world that defies morality, any Christian who TRULY DESIRES HEAVEN will never be found playing to the gallery.
In Proverbs 22:28, the Bible says:
"Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set", but the DECEIVERS and WOLVES IN SHEEP CLOTHING have twisted the truth in a bid to blend with the world, they now go with the mantra of SHIFTING THE CULTURE.
An age-long standard of God that has been from time immemorial is what this depraved world wants to modify in the name of culture shifting and this is because the things of God are like FOOLISHNESS to them.
Instead of looking up to others as your standard for what is good or right, look to Jesus:
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;" - Hebrews 12:2a
Instead of setting the bar for your life by looking at successful and influential people, set your bar at living like Jesus. Jesus valued His relationship with God above all else. He valued obedience to the Father’s will above all other pursuits. Every breath He breathed was done to the glory of God the Father and in fulfillment of His plans, and you and I are to do the same.
To DESIRE HEAVEN is to LIVE FOR HEAVEN, and to throw off every weight that would hinder you from pursuing a life of HOLINESS AND RIGHTEOUSNESS; it means getting rid of anything that wants to hamper your relationship with Jesus.
TO DESIRE HEAVEN IS TO LIVE FOR JESUS, and declare with your thoughts, actions, and emotions that Jesus truly is Lord over your life.
Those who DESIRE HEAVEN live with this HOPE and avoid anything that would disqualify them from inheriting the Kingdom of God.
Living with a HEAVENLY PERSPECTIVE would prompt you to spend time in God’s presence, studying His word and honoring Him with your life.
You must choose to live differently and allow the Lord to DAILY RENEW A RIGHT SPIRIT WITHIN YOU.
The life of anyone who is DESIROUS OF HEAVEN AT LAST would definitely be COUNTERCULTURAL, but because you are not living to please anyone, this is very much in order.
WHO AND WHAT ARE YOU LIVING FOR?
DESIRING HEAVEN SHOULD BE YOUR EVERYDAY TASK; THEREFORE, PREPARE YOURSELF TO INHERIT THE MANSION JESUS HAS GONE TO PREPARE FOR YOU.
