(Nuggets from Romans 12:16)
This was Apostle Paul's recommendation to the church in Rome and by extension to the church in this present dispensation.
LOVE IS THE FOUNDATION OF EVERY OTHER VIRTUE YOU CAN EVER THINK OF.
As a GENUINE CHRISTIAN, the LOVE you profess to one other should be SINCERE, FREE FROM DECEIT, and WITHOUT ULTERIOR MOTIVES. Depending on God's DIVINE GRACE, you have to make daily effort on your own to DETEST and DREAD all forms of evil, and take delight in whatever is pleasing to the Lord.
LOVE IS THE BEDROCK!
Without LOVE it is difficult to be of the same mind and have a common purpose even in the household of Faith. This is the reason behind the CHAOS, ENVY, GOSSIPS, BACKBITING, HATRED, JEALOUSY, and LACK OF EMPATHY in the church today, because the same "CHRISTIANS" who profess to have encountered Jesus never got REGENERATED in the first place, they are still the SAME OLD AND NATURAL MEN.
For UNITY to thrive in the body of Christ, LOVE must be restored in the church. Jesus Christ our Lord knew that His exit from this world would be followed by a drastic change and erosion of the values He instilled in his disciples and followers, and this was what prompted His prayer in John 17.
Jesus prayed earnestly to God to MAKE THEM ONE, JUST AS THE TRINITY IS ONE: GOD, THE FATHER, JESUS CHRIST THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT.
It was Love that made God send His only begotten son, and it was the UNITY that exists between the TRINITY that made Jesus Christ to accept the offer to die for the human race, and it was HUMILITY that made Jesus Christ endure the PAIN and TORTURE; He had to go through it all without using His powers as God Himself.
This same HUMILITY is lacking in the Body of Christ today. If you are a bonafide member of the Body of Christ and an integral part of the UNIVERSAL CHURCH, following the footsteps of Jesus whom you profess to serve shouldn't be by COERCION. You don't need to wait for any sermon to LOVE the way Christ did.
As a HUMBLE PERSON, you won't feel uncomfortable to relate with everyone else; you won't rate yourself as SUPERIOR to anyone else, and you won't have a BLOATED OPINION of yourself to the detriment of others.
CONDESCENDING TO PEOPLE OF LOW ESTATE doesn't mean you should lose your self-esteem or become stupid, NO! It only means that you should be HUMBLE enough to associate with one another with a realistic self-view, not rating yourself highly whenever you are in the midst of people.
Don't ever think you have arrived or go about with the "I-know-it-all mentality", such people don't grow; they remain in PERPETUAL IGNORANCE because they feel everything they do is right and everyone else is wrong.
DON'T OVERESTIMATE YOURSELF, DON'T UNDERESTIMATE YOURSELF EITHER, BE NEUTRAL AND ASCRIBE ALL YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS IN LIFE TO GOD.
