(Nuggets from Proverbs 1:23)
Proverbs 9:10 declares, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
The Amplified Version expounds on Proverbs 9:10 in this manner, “The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.”
The wise choose to FEAR the Lord. The wise choose to HONOUR the Lord.
Let WISDOM become your SECURE FOUNDATION.
Let WISDOM become the FRAMEWORK of your life.
THE VOICE OF WISDOM BECKONS, but ONLY THOSE WHO FEAR THE LORD WILL HEAR IT.
Turn at the reproof of WISDOM, turn to the voice of Wisdom when you are warned; Hearken without delay when you are instructed and reproved, and the SPIRIT OF WISDOM WILL POSSESS YOU.
WISDOM SPEAKS and PLEADS with the frivolous, mockers, and the hostile, promising them that if they would turn, she would abundantly ENRICH THEM with her own SPIRIT, and with UNDERSTANDING.
When James tells us to be “quick to listen”, it means being silent and submissive towards God’s Word.
It also means seeking GODLY COUNSEL from others, whose experiences and advice point us towards doing God's will as enshrined in the scriptures.
Though it may be difficult to understand and obey when undergoing challenging times, God lavishes His WISDOM upon us when we seek Him and His Word earnestly and sincerely. By reflecting on what God’s Word says about the purpose of the trials we face, the promises we have in Him when we choose to obey, and His power to carry out these promises, we can act in a manner that produces the RIGHTEOUS CHARACTER He desires to have in us and steer clear of criticism or complaint.
KNOWING GOD'S WILL is not the same as DOING GOD'S WILL.
There’s a bridge that needs to be crossed between these two points and it’s called: OBEDIENCE.
IT TAKES OBEDIENCE TO HEARKEN TO THE VOICE OF WISDOM.
God’s will is not hidden from us. His perfect law is revealed in the Scriptures that millions of people own today and can access from around the globe. He speaks to us and urges us to take heed and obey His laws, but oftentimes we walk away from it, satisfied with the new insights we’ve gleaned from our study of the Bible or the residual knowledge we have, and fail to make any tangible changes to our lives.
HAVING HEAD KNOWLEDGE ABOUT GOD DOES NOT TRANSLATE TO THE FEAR OF GOD.
DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO DOING GOD'S WILL AND OBEYING HIS COMMANDS, AND HE WILL GIVE YOU WISDOM WITHOUT MEASURE.
