"We love Him, because He first loved us."
Today's scripture does not in any way suggest that you should have a reason or condition for loving God.
It simply means that His love is the incentive, the motive, and moral and propeller of our love for Him.
You cannot but love so good a God, who first of all looked out for you in your undeserving and unworthy state. He loved you when you were at your lowest, unfaithful, unloving and unlovely.
God has been seeking and soliciting your love at the expense of his Son's blood; and has condescended to beseech us to be reconciled unto Him.
WHAT AN AMAZING LOVE!
YOUR LOVE FOR GOD IS A PRODUCT OF HIS LOVE FOR YOU.
You cannot love God, unless you believe that He loves you, and you will never be absolutely sure of that, unless you have experienced it firsthand from the Cross of Calvary - THE EMBLEM OF HIS SUFFERING AND SHAME which underscores His UNFEIGNED LOVE.
It would be sheer selfishness for anyone to give God conditions or grounds on which you should love Him and show him your loyalty because He never demanded anything from you before offering His son to die on the cross.
What have you done for God to RECIPROCATE this LOVE?
Dedicating your life to God is the BEST WAY to RECIPROCATE your love for God.
OBEDIENCE TO GOD'S INSTRUCTIONS REFLECTED THROUGH HOLINESS IS THE ONLY PROOF THAT YOU LOVE GOD.
