(Nuggets from Ezekiel 33:11)
This is a SOLEMN DECLARATION of God's willingness and readiness to show mercy to any sinner who is ready to REPENT and turn away from evil.
The people of Israel were suffering from the consequences of their rebellion and iniquity and God sent Prophet Ezekiel to them to tell them that though their case was pitiful, they still had hope if only they could retrace their footsteps and turn away from all evil deeds.
What are the key deductions from this?
1). God has no delight in the death of sinners, but would rather they should turn and live.
He has said it, He has sworn it, that by these two immutable things, in both which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation. We have His word and His oath, and since He could swear by no greater, He swears by himself: "As I live".
As long as a penitent repents and forsakes their evil ways, they will surely live.
(2) God's MERCY is MATCHLESS. You offend God, yet instead of punishing you, He still offers you A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE. He comes looking for you in spite of your obstinacy, He comes to knock at the door of your heart, yet some refuse to open.
If anyone dies in sin, it is their choice, not God's.
- He sacrificed His only begotten son for a REBELLIOUS HUMAN RACE.
- He beckons you to come and reason with Him no matter how dirty your life has been:
"Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool."
(Isaiah 1:18)
- He still comes to knock at the door of your heart and wait patiently for you to open - THE ALMIGHTY GOD BEGGING A HELPLESS AND HOPELESS SINNER TO REPENT; WHAT A GOD!!
YOU HAVE NO REASON TO PERISH, AFTER ALL THESE PROVISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE BY GOD.
TURN AWAY FROM YOUR SINS AND DO NOT KEEP GOD WAITING!
