MIRACLES ARE NOT TO BE IDOLIZED
(Nuggets from Acts 19:12)
The preceding verse stated clearly that "God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul", which means that Paul was just a vessel, an instrument; God did these miracles, not Paul.
That Handkerchiefs and Aprons were brought from the body of Paul wasn't implying that Paul distributed Handkerchiefs or Aprons, rather the people he ministered to were in awe of the power of God working in Him and as they touched his body with their Handkerchiefs and Aprons, they got their healing.
As the sick folks who touched the body of Apostle Paul with their Handkerchiefs and Aprons applied and wore them, the diseases departed from them, and the demons that hitherto possessed them went out instantly. This shows the power of the Holy Ghost in operation. The Holy Spirit works in diverse ways, and Apostle Paul was just a vessel through whom the Holy Spirit reached out to the people at that instance.
The handkerchiefs and aprons were not healing agents, but a point of contact at the moment, but it is very possible that some of the sick or possessed people afterwards began to idolize these articles.
In contemporary times, many religious folks are now given to idols. Some worship the crucifix, others worship the chaplet, some worship man-made sculptures and wooden artifacts of people depicted as Jesus, Mary, some Apostles who were canonized, and others worship ointments like the olive oil or holy water, and they depend on these articles as though their lives depend on them.
How sad it is to see Christians who should believe in God and pray in the name of Jesus now trusting man-made items and channeling their Faith in these things, doing exactly what God forbids - IDOL WORSHIP.
Today's scripture is a reminder that God is a jealous God, and He expects you to always focus on Him as the ONLY SOURCE, and never exalt, worship or anyone or anything else.
If a minister of God decides to use
MIRACLES ARE NOT TO BE IDOLIZED.
Miracles are baits God uses to draw souls to Himself and also a very viable tool for boosting the Faith of His children, and whoever or whatever God uses to achieve this should not be IDOLIZED.
This is HOLINESS CHALLENGE
