THE FAITH OF MOSES - A SELF-DENYING FAITH (DAY 121 OF 365)

THE FAITH OF MOSES - A SELF-DENYING FAITH
(Nuggets from Hebrews 11:24)

In the preceding verse, we read about Moses' parents and how they chose FAITH OVER FEAR, which eventually shaped the life of Moses who would later on become the deliverer and champion of the Exodus.

"By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment."
(Hebrews 11:23)

Moses' parents were not afraid, they remained calm in the face of serious trouble, they chose faith over fear, and they instilled in their son Moses, a commitment to BELIEVING and TRUSTING GOD UNRESERVEDLY.

When they could no longer hide him, Moses' mother (Jochebed) placed him in a basket (an ark of bulrushes), and set it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile River. This was a divinely programmed elaborate scheme to position him in a safe and secure place. They sought to infiltrate the system that oppressed them through this act of faith, in order to bring about a positive influence for good. This was FAITH in action which paid off.

It was a KAIROS MOMENT because it was the exact time Pharaoh's daughter went to the River Nile to bathe that Moses' basket sailed across, she picked him and adopted him as her son, making him a PRINCE IN EGYPT.

The FAITH of Moses was a sacrificial faith, a faith that chose God and God’s people rather than this world and its pleasures. Moses was reared as a PRINCE in Pharaoh’s Palace. This means that Moses had everything he wanted at his disposal, HE WAS ROYALTY.

Despite the privileges he enjoyed as a Prince in Pharaoh's palace, it was Faith that made Moses refuse to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter.

Moses had often seen the Israelites abused during his forty years as an Egyptian prince. But apparently the incident in Exodus 2:11–12 was the final straw; he had seen enough of the maltreatment of his people. He made the decision that showed he was outrightly rejecting Egypt and identifying himself with God’s people.

The point is this: Moses gave up all the pleasures and enjoyment of Egypt, Moses denied himself.

Following Christ is never easy, especially if you are TRULY FOLLOWING HIM. Why? Because His call is contrary to what most people think, the call of Christ is to a life of self-denial and sacrifice. If you are going to follow Christ, you have to be willing to sacrifice everything you are and have.

In Matthew 16:24, "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."

Moses is a prime example of a believer who gave up all that the world has to offer in order to follow God and His promises.

WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF YOUR FAITH? CASUAL OR SELF-DENYING LIKE MOSES?
