MATTHEW 6:14
In today's HOLINESS CHALLENGE, I challenge you to HAVE MERCY AND FORGIVE ALL THOSE WHO HAVE HURT YOU; IF YOU DO SO, GOD WILL ALSO FORGIVE YOU WHEN YOU ASK FOR MERCY.
It is easy to ask God for forgiveness, but quite difficult to forgive those who offend us. Why is it so?
EGOCENTRISM - Ego, Pride and Selfishness intertwined in a natural and unsanctified Christian.
When the nasty nature of the natural man is dealt with, and SANCTIFICATION fully attained, you won't struggle to live like Jesus.
Forgiveness is possible but forgetting the offense that led to the malice is usually the problem.
You can't say you have forgiven your offenders when you still find it difficult to forget and let go of the hurt they inflicted on you in the past.
Jesus had so many offenders, but He never used His supernatural powers against them, He rather pleaded with God to "forgive them because they knew not what they were doing."
They were making a mockery of Jesus ignorantly, placing a crown of thorns on Him and casting lots with His clothes, spitting on Him and treating Him like a criminal.
Jesus did not retaliate. He easily let go!
Let this mind which was in Christ Jesus be in you today. It is okay to allow yourself to play the fool, instead of justifying yourself and trying to prove a point. Even when you know you are right, the Bible recommends that we should ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE DEFRAUDED.
Look inwards now and think about all those who have in one way or the other offended you, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
If you truly want God to forgive you whenever you call on Him, you MUST LEARN TO FORGIVE with ease.
FORGIVE & FORGET!
