DELIVER ME FROM PRESUMPTUOUS SINS, OH LORD!
(Nuggets from Psalm 19:13)
Beyond the sins that a natural man/woman under the influence of the Adamic nature indulges in, there is a dark region in them where foul things nestle and breed fast.
"SECRET FAULTS" are those hidden, not from others, but from you as an individual.
The Psalmist realised that he has hitherto UNDISCOVERED SINS. Lurking evils are most dangerous because, they multiply so quickly unobserved, and these "small", unnoticed sins darken the soul.
Mud in water, at the rate of a grain to a glassful, will make a lake opaque. This is called the "BUTTERFLY EFFECT" which shows how "little" "minor" or presumably insignificant actions can trigger a cascade of disproportionately large consequences over time.
You have to take responsibility for every action of yours, whether good or bad.
Your Conscience needs educating; and you have to regularly compare yourself with the ideal and perfect life of our Lord Jesus Christ, to discover your faults, just as an amateur artist would go over their drawings in front of the masterpiece.
Your life is the DRAWING, Jesus' life is the MASTERPIECE, "oh to be like thee" should be your song every day.
The psalmist knew that he was in danger from another class of sins, and so he prayed to be held back from "PRESUMPTUOUS SINS", i.e. wilful, intentional, conscious transgressions. Such deliberate contraventions of the law tend to become habitual and despotic; so the prayer follows that those sins may not "have dominion".
Deliberate sin when it gains the upper hand in your life would lead to apostasy - GREAT TRANSGRESSION".
PRESUMPTUOUS SINS start off as some UNSUSPECTED EVIL/VICE that enslaves your will over time, becoming habits, and is usually under the cloak of RELIGION.
ONLY GOD CAN KEEP YOU FROM PRESUMPTUOUS SINS, IF ONLY YOU ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR WEAKNESSES AND CRY OUT TO HIM ON TIME.
