(Nuggets from James 1:20)
Anger by human standards is driven by revenge, ego, pride, selfishness, envy, jealousy and injustice.
For better understanding, take a look at verse 19:
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:"
Apostle James advised that you as an individual should be swift, apt and ready to hear or listen to people in a bid to UNDERSTAND THEM PROPERLY, PROCESS the information and ALLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT guide you on when to respond, what to respond and how to go about it.
On the other hand, being swift to hear refers to HEARING GOD'S WORD and LISTENING TO THE HOLY SPIRIT. This is the recommended kind of listening you must always look out for.
When you spend more time listening to the Word of God and giving the Holy Spirit audience to you, there won't be any room for ANGER, especially when people hurt, abuse, do or say offensive things to you.
ANGER IS AN OUTWARD EXPRESSION OF THE INNERMOST DEPRAVITY PROMPTED BY THE NATURAL MAN.
God's anger is JUSTIFIED, it is called HOLY ANGER - a response to sin, evil and injustice that humans exhibit. God's anger is to remind us that HE IS HOLY and CANNOT CONDONE ANY IOTA OF SIN. God expresses His anger after a long period of grace, waiting for the STUBBORN and ADAMANT to repent.
The ANGER OF GOD is displayed as JUDGMENT to show us that HIS STANDARDS CANNOT CHANGE.
If God did not tolerate sin in times past, He can't tolerate sin now.
Some would argue that Jesus also exhibited ANGER. Our Lord during His earthly ministry also expressed HOLY ANGER when He saw people desecrating God's house - the temple, turning it into a place of merchandise. His anger was because they were exploiting people by overcharging for sacrifices and currency exchange
Passage of time cannot change God's Principle of HOLINESS, RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE.
In other words, God's Anger and Human Anger are INCOMPARABLE.
If you must be angry, let it be such an anger for the DYING SOULS HEADING TO HELL, and the activities of the devil luring men into sin everyday. This type of anger is allowed, and it should prompt you to GO AND WIN THE LOST AT ANY COST.
Your ANGER should not be as a matter of PRIDE, EGO or because you were ridiculed or insulted. You can be pissed off, but you can decide not to express it.
The natural man expresses anger by physical exchange of words, rage, fighting, keeping malice etc.
BE ANGRY AND SIN NOT!
Ever thought of what that means?
It means that it is allowed to get angry inside as an emotional response, but don't let the Sun go down on your anger. Don't make the mistake of going to bed any day with that anger and rage in your heart, because you have no idea when the trumpet would sound.
ANGER CAN HINDER ANYONE FROM GOING IN THE RAPTURE.
ANGER can only be expressed outwardly by the NATURAL MAN who has not been SANCTIFIED, one who does not have the HOLY SPIRIT residing in him/her.
When the Holy Spirit abides in you, the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT will be made manifest, and you cannot have such FRUIT and still display the WORKS OF THE FLESH.
Anger and irritation of the natural man cannot produce anything God would accept as RIGHTEOUS.
This is HOLINESS CHALLENGE
