SUFFERING AFFLICTION OR ENJOYING THE PLEASURES OF SIN?
(Nuggets from Hebrews 11:25)
Moses was born at a time when Pharaoh passed a decree to kill all Hebrew baby boys because he was threatened with the way Israelites grew in strength and might; he feared that the Hebrews would outnumber the Egyptians and that would pose a threat to their existence and supremacy.
Jochebed, Moses' mother had to hide him after birth but couldn't continue after three months; she had to put him in a basket and as God would have it, Pharaoh's daughter saw him and adopted him.
Moses lived in the palace for 40 years before he fled after killing an Egyptian. For these 40 years, He was a Prince in the Land of Egypt (though a Jew). He has access to all dainties as the royalty he was. However, after fleeing, he went to Midian and spent another 40 years there, this time around outside the palace - during which period, God prepared him for the Exodus mission.
Moses returned to Egypt at the age of 80 to fulfill his mission and liberate the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and He eventually died after 40 years, at the age of 120.
The final 80 years of Moses' life was the opposite of the ROYAL LIFE he enjoyed in the palace, but when it was time to do the Lord's work, HE CHOSE TO SUFFER AFFLICTION WITH GOD'S PEOPLE (ISRAELITES), identifying with them rather than going back to the palace to ENJOY ALL THE PLEASURE therein.
MOSES LEFT HIS COMFORT ZONE!
Let's bring it home now; Moses' life could be likened to the life of a pilgrim sojourning in this world of sin.
Prior to salvation, you 'enjoyed' all the pleasures of sin, but now that God has called you and saved you, you are expected to give it all up, take up your cross and follow Jesus.
You must be ready to forfeit all leisure and deny yourself the pleasure of sin.
Look at the bigger picture and ask yourself this important question:
IS IT BETTER TO ENJOY THE DAINTIES OF SIN NOW AND END UP IN HELL OR SUFFER AFFLICTION NOW AS A TRUE FOLLOWER OF CHRIST AND MAKE IT TO HEAVEN AT LAST?
