QUELLING THE FLESH AND LIVING AFTER THE SPIRIT
(Nuggets from Romans 8:13)
The Christian life is not just about avoiding sin, but about living a life that is controlled by the Spirit.
Romans 8:13 emphasizes the importance of living a life that has fully yielded to the Spirit, rather than being dominated by the flesh.
When you live according to your sinful nature, you'd face ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES (SPIRITUAL DEATH), but when you mortify your flesh you will experience a victorious life powered by the Holy Spirit.
This verse calls you to a lifestyle of dependence on the Holy Spirit, recognizing that our own strength is insufficient to overcome sin. It's a CALL to mortify the sinful deeds of your body, and to live a life that honors God.
The Holy Spirit enables you to overcome the destructive patterns of your sinful nature and to walk in the freedom and victory that Christ has provided for you.
You are not just fighting against sin, but also against the worldly influences that tend to suppress your desire to do God's will.
The world promotes lifestyles that are contrary to God's word, and you must be careful not to be a vendor or agent whom the devil would use to import worldliness into the Church.
The Church should be a place of PEACE, LOVE and UNITY, where believers can grow and mature in Faith, but how do you achieve this?
Simply start by submitting to the Spirit's leading and allowing Him to guide you into all truth. Be willing to surrender your desires and to take up your cross daily to follow Jesus.
As you yield to the Holy Spirit everyday, you will experience FULLNESS of LIFE, maximize all potentials attached therein, and harness the blessings accrued to obedience.
