SWITCHING FROM JESTING TO THANKSGIVING
(Nuggets from Ephesians 5:4)
One of the key characteristic features of a REGENERATED CHILD OF GOD is GRACIOUSNESS OF SPEECH.
It is not everything that comes to you to mind that must be voiced out. Yes, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, but you have the ability to filter your words in such a way that it only EDIFIES your listeners and not POLLUTE them.
Apostle Paul advised the church in Ephesus to avoid every form of filthiness through words and utterances like FOOLISH TALKING - saying things that are DIRTY & NASTY, JESTING - saying things that are UNREAL, EXAGGERATION and LYING in the name of FUN, COMEDY - calling the name of the Lord indiscriminately and using same for comic relief, A NAME THAT SHOULD BE HALLOWED, but unfortunately has been abused by skit makers, and the even the church patronize them.
Apostle Paul's recommendation is that instead of engaging in these aforementioned foolish talks, you as an individual should SELECT YOUR WORDS CAREFULLY and let every single word that proceeds out of your mouth be such that will EDIFY and give GLORY TO GOD.
Spend more time GIVING THANKS TO THE LORD, ADORE HIM and APPRECIATE HIM always, let PRAISES ring forth from your lips and rise to God like a sweet smelling savour.
I challenge you to REFRAIN FROM EVERY FORM OF UNGODLY TALK, UNHOLY WORDS, JESTING, LYING, AND ALL FILTHINESS OF THE LIPS, LET GOD BE GLORIFIED IN AND THROUGH YOUR WORDS.
