UNDERSTANDING THE SCRIPTURES, A TOP NECESSITY
(Nuggets from Luke 24:45)
Jesus Christ our Lord had just risen from the dead but Mary Magdalene, Mary His mother, Joanna the wife of Chuza and Salome went to His tomb to anoint his body with spices, unbeknownst to them that OUR SAVIOR HAD RISEN.
The Angels broke the news to them that Jesus has resurrected and they went back to the rest of the disciples to break the wonderful news of Christ's resurrection.
Peter went to the sepulcher to confirm if it was true while Cleopas and Luke the Physician headed to Emmaus, and on their way, Jesus appeared to them and they couldn't decipher he was the one - UNBELIEF IN ACTION!
He had to stay with them briefly, ate bread with them, and suddenly THEIR EYES OPENED and the moment they realized that He was their master, Jesus, He disappeared.
Moments later, Jesus appeared before His disciples and they were panicking. He needed to show them His nail-riven hands and feet but they still doubted. He then asked them for food and whilst He ate, He needed to remind them of all He had told them when He was still alive; it was at this point that THEIR UNDERSTANDING OPENED.
Jesus had given them many sermons before His crucifixion but immediately after His death, they forgot all He had taught them, the cares of this life and other distractions happened.
Remember that Peter, the fisherman left the Gospel mission Jesus saddled him with and went back to his fishing business, abandoning the great commission.
It is possible that you are already in the same situation with Jesus' disciples who had forgotten so soon all that the master had taught them, maybe the cares and worries of life have overwhelmed you and you're almost about to throw in the towel and go after the mundane.
Jesus Christ our Lord may not appear to you physically today, but He left you and I a comforter, the HOLY SPIRIT, and His word is reaching you this moment wherever you are and admonishing you to GO BACK AND REFRESH YOUR MEMORY, remember all you have learned so far in the Scriptures and through His GENUINE SERVANTS, and seek the assistance of the Holy Spirit to UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES.
MAY THE HOLY SPIRIT GUIDE YOU AS YOU NAVIGATE THE PAGES OF GOD'S WORD AND RUMINATE ON THE WORD OF GOD IN THE RECESSES OF YOUR MIND.
