ESCHEW EVIL, DO GOOD AND SEEK PEACE
(Nuggets from 1 Peter 3:11)
This was an injunction from Apostle Peter to the believers in his time. For a better understanding, let's take it from verse 10 using the Amplified version rendering:
"For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days, keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from guile (treachery, deceit)".
If you want to enjoy life and see GOOD DAYS, you must keep your tongue free from evil and refrain your lips from speaking guile. In addition, he added verse 11:
"LET HIM ESCHEW EVIL and DO GOOD, LET HIM SEEK PEACE AND ENSUE IT."
What does it mean to ESCHEW EVIL?
To ESCHEW EVIL means to TURN AWAY FROM EVERY FORM OF WICKEDNESS and VILENESS, and SHUNNING THEM at the same time. This means that you do not just only turn away from evil, but you SHUN everyone who indulges in them, and DO WHAT IS RIGHT ALWAYS.
In addition, you should search for PEACE - cultivating harmony in your relationship with one another, within yourself and also in your relationship with God. Searching for PEACE also means to AVOID EVERY CONFLICT, and seek it eagerly.
To ENSUE PEACE means to PURSUE it eagerly, chasing after it like your life and well-being depends on it. It involves active participation from you, even when the opposite party is indifferent, you have to take it SERIOUSLY.
Reconcile with everyone and settle all scores, don't engage in arguments with people in your bid to prove a point, instead walk away from anything that will tamper with your peace of mind. Let go of everyone and everything that steals your peace, every bad attitude and toxic people.
STOP FEEDING WHAT IS DESTROYING YOU SILENTLY FROM WITHIN.
PEACE obliterates ANXIETY and enhances CONTENTMENT, making sure that you don't compare yourself or achievements with others.
Peace doesn't show up just like that, it won't come to your doorstep, you have to CHASE IT, GO AFTER IT!
THE FIRST STEP TO CHASING PEACE IS TO FIND THE PRINCE OF PEACE BY GETTING SAVED, AND HE WILL FIX YOUR LIFE FROM THE INSIDE.
