DAY 166 OF 365
ROMANS 12:20
In today's HOLINESS CHALLENGE, I challenge you to DO GOOD TO YOUR ENEMIES, BE GENEROUS TO THEM, AND DO NOT WITHHOLD FOOD OR WATER FROM THEM IF YOU ARE IN THE POSITION TO DO SO; BY SO DOING, YOU WILL THROW THEM INTO ANGUISH, GUILT AND REMORSE, POSSIBLY WINNING THEM OVER ULTIMATELY.
This scripture buttresses Jesus' commandment to LOVE OUR ENEMIES, a hard nut every Christian has to crack.
It is natural to reciprocate GOOD with GOOD and EVIL for EVIL. When people treat you badly, the natural tendency should be to retaliate and give back a commensurate response, but when you're TRULY REGENERATED, you do the opposite.
It takes AGAPE LOVE to show compassion and affection to a supposed enemy who has no good intentions for you. This is quite a challenge, doing the extraordinary.
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him."
This sounds like a joke, to the natural person of course. But you know that if you must act and react like Jesus Christ, you must be ready to overcome this natural inclination.
Showing them love by giving them food, drink or any other gift will haunt them and prove that you are TRULY a different breeds and a REAL FOLLOWER of Christ.
This act of kindness and generosity will heap coals of fire on their head, not literally but in form of ANGUISH, GUILT and REMORSE, making them regret their actions, paving the way for peace and harmony.
LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, LET YOUR LOVE KILL THAT HATRED IN THEM AND WIN THEM OVER FOR JESUS.
